    SCC Solutions Architect – Networking & Security


    Overall Job Purpose:


    To support the SCC regional sales teams in achieving their sales plans and taking SCC value propositions out to market. Working with sales in a consultative capacity with SCC clients to establish tailored solutions that are commercially and technically viable whilst underpinning the customer’s business objectives.  Representing SCC as a trusted expert, the solutions architect must be cognisant of the competitive landscape and possess the ability to articulate the benefits of working with SCC professional services.

    The solutions architect will provide highly skilled expertise with respect to the design, implementation and support of large client infrastructures covering a combination of, but not limited to, Local, Wide Area, Data Centre and Wireless networks together with the ability to position Security solutions.  Focused on Cisco as a core vendor, knowledge of current Cisco portfolio, strategy and industry alignment is essential with regard to:

    • Enterprise Networking
    • Security & Mobility
    • Management & Monitoring Solutions
    • Data Centre, Virtualisation and SDN

    Focused on business outcomes and value, the primary objective of this role is to elevate the market perception of SCC’s managed solution capability whilst driving professional service engagement and sales. This is a technical pre-sales role.

    Key Tasks:

    • Consulting with clients to understand their current technological and business challenges together with their competitive environment and evolving market challenges. The outcome of the consultation will be a clear set of requirements and operational priorities.
    • Propose innovative solutions that address these requirements, provide competitive advantage and business efficiencies.  Build appropriate bills of materials and high level design and scope up appropriate professional services. Write compelling technology-based customer-facing proposals and work with account managers to develop associated commercials. Present proposed solutions to the customer.
    • Develop blended solutions (Product, Professional and Management Services, including support options) that meet the business requirements of new and existing clients.  Solutions should leverage components of SCC core product strategy and fulfil all internal operational and support guidelines.
    • Focus on driving SCC Professional Services consultancy engagements.
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with 3rd party integrators and vendors to ensure solutions can be tailored from all available product/service providers.
    • Experience in communicating with internal / external stakeholders with the ability to lead client meetings from a technical design perspective to drive an appropriate design. The ability to influence throughout the life cycle and enable delivery of a compliant solution.
    • Working internally as part of an overall project team with, and supporting other pre and post-sales consultants from different technology areas.
    • Communication with account managers and project managers to ensure smooth delivery of projects.
    • 5+ years’ experience in a role as a networking and security consultant and pre-sales representative providing high level technical consultancy in the design and implementation of multivendor networks.
    • Successful track record and experience in bidding on complex infrastructure tenders.
    • Solid academic background with excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with strong presentational skills.
    • Ability to negotiate with, and influence clients.
    • Contributes to development of complex systems, including the areas of investigation, analysis, specification, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade and migration
    • Eligibility to gain SC accreditation is required.

    Skills Knowledge & Experience:

    A good knowledge and relevant accreditations are required across the following solution verticals in terms of products, marketplace and business relevance. Primary expertise in networking, designing at a high level, secure, resilient network with technologies which may include but not limited to:

    • Enterprise Networking
        • Cisco Enterprise Networking portfolio (Cat 3k, 9k, DNA Architecture)
        • Wireless Technology (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba)
        • Policy Engines (Cisco ISE, Aruba Clearpass)
        • Understanding software subscription models (Cisco ONE, DNA)
        • SD-WAN (Cisco, Velocloud)
    • Security & Mobility
        • NGFW: Cisco / Checkpoint / Fortinet / Palo Alto
        • CASB solutions Cisco / Fortinet / Palo Alto
        • Endpoint protection: Cisco / Fortinet / McAfee / Palo Alto
        • SIEM and Security management solutions
        • Familiar with Security frameworks: Cyber Essentials, NIST, ISO27000
    • Management & Monitoring Solutions
        • Cisco PRIME
        • Cisco PRISM
        • Other vendors (eg: Solarwinds, HPE IMC)

    • Knowledge of HP Networking and HP Wireless product portfolio is desirable.
    • Professional certification is required:  Cisco CCNP or CCDP in Routing and switching as a minimum.  CCIE desirable.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing, optimising and supporting large corporate networks
    • Up-to-date knowledge of industry offerings, key technology trends and their business value
    • Other vendor knowledge and experience (F5, HPE/Aruba, Checkpoint, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper, Infoblox, Riverbed, Sophos)
    • Experience in designing and articulating network and security architectural solutions.
    • Experience/use of virtualization technologies and their application in client architectures
    • Experience in articulating software defined solutions and automation as part of network and security solutions
    • Good working knowledge of implementing Change and Incident solutions within ITIL V3 processes and procedures.
    • Knowledge of network analysis, troubleshooting methodologies, and Application Performance Management systems that can be used in order to provide optimization and pre deployment services for client networking solutions.
    • Familiar with cabling standards and specifications (e.g. UTP category 5&6, single and multi-mode fibre).
    • Knowledge of Server and PC operating systems.
