    Overall Job Purpose:

    A member of a specialist team of experienced, client facing, presales professionals who manage network technical presales engagements. The role holder will work alongside sales colleagues to drive PS opportunities, and work with customers to understand business requirements and map these onto an appropriate technology solution.

    Main Duties of Job:

    • Work closely with the SCC new business teams to identify professional services opportunities and qualify customer requirements early in the sales cycle
    • Work closely with the SCC account and service management teams to identify professional services opportunities within existing accounts
    • Engage directly with customers, often on speculative/pre-RFP requirements, to understand their business challenges and translate these into technology requirements
    • Advise customers on technology choices and options
    • Act as a single point of contact for technical presales engagements
    • Develop customer proposals, statements of work, supporting cost models and defining proof of concept engagements where appropriate
    • Provide support to sales and bid team colleagues for the completion of bid responses including, Requests for Information,  Requests for Proposal, and Pre-qualification Questionnaires
    • Work closely with colleagues in the delivery teams to ensure presales opportunities are handed over appropriately and with clarity in relation to the proposed solution, implementation approach, and customer engagement
    • Participate in peer review of documentation for presales colleagues across SCC


    Skills, Knowledge & Experience:


    • At least five years’ experience of working in a professional services technology role with at least two years focus on presales
    • Experience in preparing proposals, statements of work and cost models
    • Competent with Cisco CCW pricing tool
    • Experience of presenting technical solutions to both technology focused and non-technology focused personnel up to and including board level
    • Knowledge of a broad range of technologies with specific focus on:

    o             Cisco Catalyst campus LAN switching and wireless technologies

    o             Cisco datacentre switching portfolio (Nexus)

    o             Cisco software defined networking solutions (SD-Access, ACI, SD-WAN)

    o             Cisco LAN security including Firepower, ISE (NAC, virtualisation and segmentation, TACACS+)

    o             Large scale enterprise network refresh

    • Successful track record of driving pipeline and service development initiatives
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to think strategically and lead strategic discussion
    • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and technology trends


    • Knowledge and experience of

    o             Cisco security products – Umbrella, AMP, Email Security, StealthWatch, Talos, Tetration etc.

    o             Aruba and HP switching and wireless technologies

    o             Fortinet security technologies

    o             Palo Alto technologies

    o             F5 load balancing and security technologies

    o             Datacentre and cloud technologies such as HCI, public cloud, o365

    • Appreciation of programme and project management methodologies
    • Appreciation of large-scale network refresh challenges including cabling, power, cooling, physical and wireless surveys
    • Experience of working in a hands-on technology delivery role
    • Awareness of Cisco partner pricing incentives and processes
