Demand for our Data Centre services continues to grow both from existing and new customers creating a real career opportunity for a talented individual to join us at our Birmingham Data Centre as a SCCM Senior Engineer working on our Managed Desktop Service. This role will focus on designing, documenting, implementing and support of all SCCM builds within the secure platform, and management, scaling and improving of the SCCM environment. The position will sit in 3rd line support reporting into the Sentinel Technical Manager, with a key focus on delivery of new projects to new customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Extensive SCCM solution design and administration, with a focus on Managed Desktop Deployment

    In depth MDT administration and implementation for build and capture of OS deployment images

    Significant experience in support of at least Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 Managed Desktop solutions

    BAU support of the SCCM\ / MDT environment -– in depth Troubleshooting capabilities; and own incidents, problems and issues as they arise

    Perform detailed and comprehensive root cause analysis as necessary

    Transition of Managed Desktop solutions from existing hosted solution into new hosted solution

    Design and deployment of ground-up builds and implementations into

    BAU Support, including training handovers supported by quick guides and customer focused documentation

    Group Policy design and troubleshooting

    Providing third level escalation support within SCC for SCCM queries

    Proactive SCCM maintenance and health checks for all customer bases

    Creation and maintenance of all SCCM related documents

    Skills Knowledge and Experience

    The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a track record of working on designing, implementing, improving and supporting detailed and comprehensive enterprise SCCM environments and the associated managed desktop estates. Experience of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with an agile attitude and a logical/methodical approach, able to handle work with multiple customers and projects. Candidate should have experience of working in a large scale solution provider environment, with a rapidly expanding customer base.

    Essential Skills:

    • 5yrs 7yrs minimum experience of administering SCCM/MDT in a technically complex environment, preferably within  and highly secure enterprise environment
    • Significant experience of working and delivering to large scale high value project streams
    • Strong demonstrable experience in SCCM solution design and implementation, backed by excellent documentation skills encompassing High and Low Level Designs
    • Good Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure related subjects
    • Proven track record of working with 3rd party customers and suppliers in a design, project and support perspective
    • Excellent experience of a System Centre Configuration Manager 2012 R2 environment managing 2000+ endpoints
    • Experience with OSD, SQL, SUP, WSUS, Task Sequences, SCCM RBAC, compliance baselines, deployment and packaging
    • Experience with creating custom SCCM reports using SSRS
    • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
    • Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack (MDOP)
    • Windows 7, 8.1, 10 operating system management
    • Experience in administering group policy
    • Strong scripting skills including VBscript and, PowerShell and SQL script
    • Methodical and technically minded with strong focus on high quality standards and excellent attention to detail
    • Design, documentation skills
    • Proven experience of having good fault finding and troubleshooting skills
    • Thorough understanding of security concepts relating to desktop environments



    • Experience of working in a cloud based organisation
    • MCSE/MCP qualification – ideally SCCM certification
    • Active Directory management experience
    • Experience working with PSN compliance
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft office products and patching
    • B.Sc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent preferred
    • Experience of working in a multi-client solutions provider
    • VMware or similar exposure

    The Ability to gain Security Clearance is a requirement for this role.
