    Role Description

Demand for our Data Centre services continues to grow both from existing and new customers creating a real career opportunity for a talented individual to join us at our Birmingham Data Centre as a Platform and Infrastructure Services manager

    The Platform and Infrastructure Services Manager is a key role within the Data Centre Service and Operations function accountable for the Management and Maintenance of all Data centre services Infrastructure environments, management tooling and the Services delivered from them

    This role is responsible for managing a dedicated team of skilled Technology specialists delivering best in practice Infrastructure Lifecycle management and evolution of Technologies and services delivered from DCS Infrastructure platforms


    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and lead a dedicated Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure Specialist team to deliver stability and operations of the platform services
    • Manage and maintain existing Infrastructure platform services ensuring they deliver best in class stability & availability
    • Identify and work towards better standardisation, governance, Proactive service improvements, Documentation and BAU Maintenance plans.
    • Implement , Maintain and improve on Infrastructure Service level delivery through proactive reporting and trend analysis on Platform and Infrastructure Capacity, Availability & Stability
    • Plan and deliver continual evolution and Service Improvement across Infrastructure Platform services
    • Build strong Internal and external relationships to enable the effective Management of Infrastructure and platform services
    • Manage and maintain Infrastructure and Platform Technology Lifecycle and Risk register ensuring future planning is completed to Mitigate and upgrade where required
    • Manage and maintain Platform and Infrastructure Vendor supplier agreements ensuring best in class support services, stability and SLA’s of Infrastructure Technologies within Data Centre Services
    • Provide professional and personal development of all technical staff and leads within functional teams
    • Drive proactive /preventative maintenance plans to ensure service stability of Platform Infrastructure and services
    • Assist engagement with projects and Cloud Architecture teams to ensure designs of technical solutions are in line with the requirements of the customer/platform Infrastructure.
    • Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards across functional responsibility areas
    • Be accountable for the continuous improvement programmes of all technology platforms across the Datacentre Infrastructure
    • Support and be part of an Out of Hours Management escalation process
    • To perform any other duties from time to time that may be required by Head of DCS Technical Support

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

    • Senior level IT Management and leadership experience within a Data Centre/Service provider environment
    • Ability to inspire, lead and provide guidance to Technical Teams in best practice IT operations and Infrastructure management
    • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
    • Ability to disseminate the right level of technical or solution information intended for the correct audience
    • An extended background in multiple technology environments with an strong understanding of Infrastructure, Virtualisation and Server environments
    • A good understanding of Infrastructure Management and monitoring tools.
    • Excellent project planning skills and experience of Infrastructure Project Delivery
    • Risk assessment and management in a technology driven environment
    • Experience of Implementing , managing and maintaining Infrastructure Disaster Recovery plans
    • Excellent documentation skills across Technical , process and customer facing documentation
    • Strong customer facing experience
    • Confident character with the ability to deal effectively at Senior level management down to junior Technical Engineer level
    • Commitment to exceed business & customers’ expectations
    • ITIL knowledge/ accreditation specializing around operational technical delivery
