    The Business Analyst will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of projects by performing business analysis and assist with project management for projects within the IT Applications department. The Business Analyst will be a highly motivated and business aware individual, able to work effectively with project teams, various departments, with other stakeholders in SCC and with the end customer. This must include effective communication, desire to develop relationships, manage risk, resolve conflict and deliver projects successfully.
    The Business Analyst is expected to have good analysis skills, be able to gather requirements, produce the appropriate documentation for successful project delivery such as, but not limited to project plans, functional specifications, roles and responsibilities matrices, risk and issue registers, communication plans and testing documentation. The Business Analyst’s primary experience is expected to be in software and business applications but experience in infrastructure project delivery will also be valuable. The Business Analyst must be highly motivated, have exceptional communication skills, have the required level of business acumen and stakeholder management, and the desire to develop and implement robust business solutions and operations to drive exceptional levels of delivery, quality and business benefit.

    The key objectives and responsibilities of this role are as follows:
    • Defining, shaping, leading and delivering Projects within the IT applications portfolio
    • Management of projects such that the scope and quality are controlled, baselined and assurance is made that delivery follows the plan
    • Stakeholder management including liaison with other key SCC service providers and stake holders
    • Risk Management and Issue Management including escalation
    • Creation and maintenance of Management Products including specifications, plans, RAID logs & communication plans
    • Undertake Project Definition Workshops, risk workshops and product workshops
    • Manage changes to cost, time, scope and quality in a controlled way, including working with relevant SCC teams where such changes impact project delivery
    • Ensuring business continuity by maintaining effective project documentation
    • Provide accurate and targeted reporting on project status
    • Management of multi-disciplined project teams with matrix reports
    • Booking and management of resources required for project delivery
    • Maintain separation of Change and BAU and promote these concepts with stakeholders
    • Adhering to SCC Portfolio, Programme and Project Governance
    • Deliver on accountabilities and KPIs agreed separately with the line manager

    • Engage with SCC teams and requesters to identify and evaluate solutions for business improvement opportunities by:
     Liaising with members of the SCC teams and project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
     Setting and continually managing expectations with project sponsors, team members and stakeholders
     Researching and proposing solutions, managing proof-of concept initiatives and all aspects of requirements gathering, use cases and documentation
     Leading brainstorming sessions and workshops to identify solutions and/or enhancements to existing solutions
     Coordinating the work of project resources including resources from other departments and third party contractors and consultants

    • Ensure that all proposed projects fit with SCC’s strategic goals, as well as technical and service management standards by:
     Supporting the IT Applications Team Portfolio governance processes and the Applications Team management processes
     Practicing business analysis and project management governance best practices
     Fostering an environment of service excellence

    • Oversee entire project lifecycle from proposal to operational transition using best practice project management and business analysis tools and techniques by:
     Creating and executing project work/management plans in SCC’s dynamic and fast-paced environment
     Leveraging appropriate business analysis techniques to produce use cases, specifications and solution proposals
     Gathering business, functional and non-functional requirements pertaining to a given project
     Understanding the AS-IS and TO-BE processes.
     Ensuring Stakeholder sign off is obtained to support submitted documentation.
     Assisting end users in defining requirements and suggesting ideas.
     Assisting with co-ordination of UAT and support UAT, verifying defects/issues with clients.
     Identifying and mitigating project risks
     Testing solutions and ensuring test systems are prepared prior to UAT handover to the end users
     Coordinating and leading training efforts for solutions where required
     Ensuring appropriate knowledge is transferred to IT service management operations and business users

    • Provide metrics and reporting on projects regularly by:
     Tracking and reporting on project performance
     Preparing project documentation for review by stake holders and senior management
     Performing other project related duties as assigned

    • Strong Microsoft Office skills Knowledge:
    A background in business analysis and project management with experience of working in any of the well-known and established programme and project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, Scrum, Agile, Kanban, Scrumban, MSF and MSP
    • A background in business analysis with experience of utilising any of the well-known and established business analysis methodologies
    • An appropriate IT or Business Degree or equivalent
    • Willingness to undertake SC Clearance Experience (essential):
    • Educated to a high standard
    • 3 years plus relevant experience in IT or related industry, focused on business analysis, and project delivery
    • Commercially aware with supplier/partner relationship development skills
    • Creative problem solver
    • Experience of running a number of simultaneous projects successfully
    • Organised and structured approach to project documentation and project reporting
    • Effective communicator at all levels
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products such as MS Project, PowerPoint, Word and Excel Experience (desired):
    • An IT technical background
    • A good understanding of on premise and cloud technology solutions and applications such as SharePoint, CRM, CS/3, PowerBI, LifeCycle, B2B and B2C integrations, Dynamics 365 CE and FinOps
    • Experience of ITIL, Acceptance into Service processes.
    • Experience in various project management and business analysis methodologies
    • Experience working with SharePoint, MS Teams, ServiceNow and collaboration tools
